Project 1: To study the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and transcranial random noise stimulation (tRNS) onto surgical motor skill level in both short-term and long-term. At the same time, the large-scale cortex activation function changes due to tDCS and tRNS are monitored via functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) technique. Based on the behavioral and neurophysical data collected, a neurofeedback model will be set up to enhance the surgical performance in real-time through neuroimaging and neurostimulation techniques.
Project 2: To set up a specially designed Deep Learning model to predict surgical bimanual motor skill level from fNIRS data.
Project 3: To predict surgical bimanual motor task learning curves by kernel partial least squares algorithm at the initial learning stage.
